 Helping the Less Fortunate

One great way to build a community is to get involved in helping the less fortunate. It’s important to remember how we treat others is how we will be treated. Volunteering our time and resources to help those in need can create great connections and friendships. A few times a month a few families and ourselves would cook food or volunteer to build or repair what needs to be done. A few months ago we erected a shed-like structure, a shaded area to enjoy their meals without the rain or direct sunlight directly on them. I think as a community and being a positive example to the younger ones, especially my children, is it my/our responsibility to show them it is not only cool it’s awesome to help others.

      Bar, Pub, or Winery

In addition to helping those in need, I also think it’s important to find other stay-at-home dads and plan play outings. Play dates are a great way to bond with other dads and create lasting relationships. We can also use this time to make sure our kids develop social skills and learn to get along with others. Last father’s day, the school my children attend sponsored a father’s day treat at a very nice Winery in Valley Guadalupe. It consisted of a tour of the entire compound and all the processes of winemaking from beginning to end. We also saw the barrels where the wine is stored and cured (if that’s the term), it was a really good and informative experience, in addition, I became friends with a few of the fathers who attended which was a great opportunity to socialize with locals who grew up here and get to know the lay of the land in terms of recent events that have been going, etc.

   Game Night

It’s essential to plan movies or arcade nights. We all need to relax and have fun, and what is a better way than to watch a movie together or play some games at an arcade? This will give us a chance to take a break from our usual routines and enjoy some downtime with our kids and other dads. I might be speaking out of turn here, but I think the majority of the father-kid combo loves a good action movie. From the Marvel cinematic universe to DC movies, even the fast and furious franchise gets the blood flowing and is a good conversation started. I know my kids would watch Avengers all day in a loop if possible.

Connecting with a community church

From a very young age, or all my life (whichever is longer) I have always been an avid churchgoer. Church for me has always been a place where I went to worship and learn to strengthen my faith. It is a community where people can connect with each other, forming bonds that can last a lifetime. Bonding with people in the church is important for several reasons, including building a sense of belonging, sharing experiences, and supporting one another through life’s challenges.

Additionally, being a part of a church community can offer opportunities for personal growth and development. Churches often provide programs and activities that help people improve their skills, gain knowledge, and develop their talents. This can create a sense of purpose and meaning in people’s lives, as well as new avenues for connecting with others
